PETE TOWNSHEND - LIVE Chicago 1997 - BB Chronicles

Now this is worth a download and no mistake! From the BB Chronicles blogspot and remembering that Pete Townshend did a three hour gig for the benefit of a truly worthy cause The Chicago based Institution Maryville Academy as BB notes:

NOTE: Benefit concert for Chicago-based institution Maryville Academy, "a leader in the treatment of physically, sexually, and emotional abused children. It provides a safe, secure, and stable environment where these youngsters can regain the hope they lost so long ago and begin the healing process".

With tracks from Empty Glass to The Who standards and to tributes to the recently deceased close personal friend Ronnie Lane the set is astonishing at its length and commitment. While a speed down band (there is only three of them! Well two really with special guest Chicagoan Eddie Veder) this holds attention throughout and is a fine quality set. This was the first of what became a series of yearly benefit shows for the charity. Parts of the show from the following year (1998) were released as a live album. But this is the complete show from the previous year.

Pete Townshend: Piano, Guitar, Vocals

Jon Carin: Keyboards, Vocals

Special Guest: Eddie Vedder (voclas on indicated songs)
