John & Paul . . . . . (The Beatles)

So if you thought The Beatles were a nice bunch of middle class lads think again . . . . . . of all of them perhaps John had the most middle class area he grew up in despite being abandoned by his parents and brought up by his beloved Aunt Mimi in Menlove Avenue where she had pretension to being somewhat better off. The others including Paul grew up in much more austere conditions and perhaps especially Ringo but Paul and George came from staunchly working class roots as evidenced here below. This features the McCartney kitchen and it pays to peruse it closely. This is very much not the home of some well off musical genius (note the kettle, pots and pans and the single power point). In Paul’s bedroom here at Forthlin Road some of the greatest pop songs ever were to be written by John and Paul.

A young John Lennon makes himself a cup of tea in a very tiny kitchen in the McCartney household at 20 Forthlin Road in Liverpool
