Classic Pop Song of The Day | Free - All Right Now (1970)

Free - All Right Now RARE at Top of the Pops (1970)

Top Hat Crew "Live Music Archivists"

The tragic Free in their prime - Kossof on guitar was to die young of a ‘downer' addiction from Mandrax to Heroin at one point people tried using alcohol to wean him off (sic!) and doctors even prescribed Mogadon to help him (a notorious more addictive downer than the Mandrax IMO!) all this abuse brought on a massive pulmonary embolism during a flight at a mere 25 years of age and the wonderful creative bass player Andy Fraser (who co-wrote so many Free songs including this one; he wrote Every Kinda People a hit for Robert Palmer) could never adjust to being gay (yes even our generation suffered the stigma and judgement  of being homosexual back then) he died from complications around his HIV and AIDS brought on Kaposi's sarcoma. He was survived by his wife and two daughters

Paul Kossoff died some 48 years ago now yesterday

There she stood in the street
Smiling from her head to her feet
I said hey, what is this
Now baby, maybe she's in need of a kiss
I said hey, what's your name baby
Maybe we can see things the same
Now don't you wait or hesitate
Let's move before they raise the parking rate
All right now baby, it's all right now
All right now baby, it's all right now
I took her home to my place
Watching every move on her face
She said look, what's your game baby
Are you tryin' to put me in shame
I said slow don't go so fast
Don't you think that love can last
She said love, Lord above
Now you're tryin' to trick me in love
All right now baby, it's all right now
All right now baby, it's all right now
All right now baby, it's all right now
All right now baby, it's all right now
All right now baby, it's all right now
All right now baby, it's all right now
All right now baby, it's all right now
All right now baby, it's all right now

  1. One of the greatest rock songs ever made. Probably my favourite anyway. They were a great band. Nice one Andy. Keep up the great work. DD
