Andy Kershaw - Renowned DJ dies

 

Saddened to hear of the death of DJ Andy Kershaw and his place in UK music broadcasting taking on the mantle in many respects from John Peel, he specialised in what we used to call ‘world musics’ but in his lauding of British folk legends too like the Waterson/Carthy family and so on it was really about his love of authentic folk music’s of the world that he will be mostly known for. Not least also for his hail fellow well met, good ole boy persona. He will be sorely missed and tributes have poured in across the media and rightly so.
