In the Bible, you’ll find the Three Wise Men. In the bible of new wave music, you’ll find the Three Angry Young Men, Graham Parker, Elvis Costello and Joe Jackson. Jackson’s debut album, Look Sharp was released in the UK in January 1979, and then in the US, in April of that same year. Propelled by the single Is She Really Going Out With Him, which climbed to #21 on the Billboard Charts, the album did even one better, reaching the #20 position. Jackson arrived in the US for his first tour at just about the same time the album hit record stores. This FM broadcast captures him during that tour at the in Boston on May 25, 1979, 47 years ago today. Download this one to hear Angry Joe not only play tunes from Look Sharp, but also preview 2 songs (Friday and the title track) from his 2nd album, I’m The Man, which would be released later that year.
