''Roy Rogers born July 28, 1950, Redding, California, United States.

No, NO not THAT Roy Rogers!
[yes I AM old enough to know the Roy Rogers with the horse called Trigger . . . part of my cultural obsession with Americana started EARLY]

THIS Roy Rogers!

"He is celebrated for his “wailing” slide sound and articulate technique, influenced heavily by Robert Johnson. Guitar Player magazine has cited him as one of the few true modern masters of the craft.
Since 1980, he has fronted this trio, known for high-energy live performances that blend acoustic roots with “dirty sliding blues” and fierce grooves.
He often utilizes open tunings and improvisation, using vintage instruments like a Martin 0-16 New Yorker and 12-string Dobros to achieve his signature sound.
Rogers served as Hooker’s musical director and producer for several years. He produced Hooker’s Grammy-winning and critically acclaimed albums, including The Healer, Mr. Lucky, Boom Boom, and Chill Out.
He has recorded or performed with Bonnie Raitt, Carlos Santana, Miles Davis (on the Hot Spot soundtrack), and Ray Manzarek of The Doors.
He is a perennial favorite at major international festivals, including the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and Montreux Jazz Festival.
He’s the premier modern masters of slide guitar, noted for bridging the gap between traditional Delta blues and contemporary blues-rock. Named after the “King of the Cowboys,” he has built a legacy through both his virtuoso performance style and his pivotal role as a producer for blues icons”
