You’ve got to feel for Volodymyr Zelenskyy. One minute he’s a successful comedian, winning Ukraine’s version of Strictly and starring as a teacher who becomes president in a TV satire. The next, as life imitates art, he wins the actual presidency and gets propelled into a never-ending war of attrition.
You’d think that would be enough weirdness for one life. But no, on his trip out of Kyiv this week to rally support in London, unimaginable horrors awaited. Not only was he forced to go on Piers Morgan’s YouTube show, but was accompanied throughout the visit to News UK by gruesome twosome Rebekah Brooks and Tony Gallagher.
Weirdly, Zelenskyy wasn’t whisked through the Baby Shard to the private lift that Rupert Murdoch uses.
Onlookers were therefore treated to the bizarre sight of the wartime President of Ukraine standing around waiting for his elevator next to another visiting celebrity ... Alice Cooper.
