Spider John Koerner dies May 17th 2024 (86)

«With my newly learned repertoire, I then went further up the street and dropped into the Ten O'Clock Scholar, a Beat coffeehouse. I was looking for players with kindred spirits. The first guy I met in Minneapolis like me was sitting around in there. It was Spider John Koerner and he also had an accoustic guitar with him. Koerner was tall and thin with a look of perpetual amusement on his face. We hit it off right away. When he spoke he was soft spoken – but when he sang he became a field holler shouter. Koerner was an exciting singer – and we began playing a lot together»
Bob Dylan, Chronicles-Volume One (2004)

Say goodbye to Spider John Koerner (August 31, 1938 – May 17, 2024) – legendary folk-blues hero, Minnesota days' blood brother of Bob Dylan, part of the seminal trio Koerner, Ray & Glover with Dave Ray and Tony Glover, huge influence on the early David Bowie and some sort of talent scout for The Jayhawks.
Great musician, true American original. Goodnight Maestro...

and for anyone not knowing who Spider John is this may help and also see clips songs above . . . . .
