Statesboro Blues - Gregg Allman Taj Mahal [and Jack Pearson on slide]

Then someone posted a ‘clip’ (A clip!?) from this . . . . heck we need the whole thing so here are Gregg Allman, MR TAJ MAHAL and on guitar Mr Jack Pearson!

We were talking slide playing guitarist so here Chris with the two legends theyselves!

I think the first song I heard by Taj was this . . . . . . . .and here he is still rolling it out!

Wake up Mama turn your lamp down low!

I first heard this song played by Taj with (I think) slide by Jesse Ed Davis on (I think) the original Sampler album "The Rock Machine Turns You On" released by CBS in June '69 ( I looked that bit up!). Fourteen Shillings and Six of your old Pence please!
That version and the Allman's Live are my favourites.

I presume Stapleton is the guy playing slide on this clip. He doesn't look much like the guy singing and playing on the other clip???

Yup, me too! That and Vol II and the Island sampler (?) You Can All Join In (68?) introduced us to loads of bands we’re still faithful to now I reckon. That was defo my first taste of Taj and my older brother Steve became a huge fan and had most albums by the great man . . . . . prolly need to check the Chris Stapleton . . .have a made another mistake? . . . almost certainly! Thanks as always Sealyman

. . . and that of course is because it ain’t Stapleton but Jack Pearson on slide! DOH!

That's a relief. When you're driving such a free -Wheelin', rollicking Magic Bus as this outstanding Jalopy how can you possibly keep every little detail accurate. I can't even manage to comment on ALL the different stuff.
I just come on here after 24hours and had to scroll through the entire history of ROCKMEWSIC to check in here.
And NOW I've got to get back to Safe as Milk and Chuck and....................Exit Gibbering
