here an early version that perfectly illustrates Leonard’s song writing process they often sounded completely different and where written and re-written until recording ( and afterwards too in many cases - See ‘Hallelujah' who’s definitive version is really an arrangement by John Cale being the version that Jeff Buckley recorded and has since gone on to fame being covered by all and sundry but the original was very VERY different . . . .and I still very much doubt anyone singing it today has any full understanding of what it is they are singing (Cale and Buckley notwithstanding!) It is said he re-wrote it and was given to turning up at recording sessions with great sheaves of re-written pages! sic!
The version at The Isle of Wight is also vastly different to this easy demo and as distinct from the recorded version as it’s possible to be . . . . .there is another version recorded live dedicated to newly elected Ronald Reagan in 1980!
