“ Old Town Records owner Hy Weiss, a Romanian Jew and a former bouncer and furrier who struck it big in the rekkid biz with Old Town artists The Solitaires, The Capris and The Earls and later on Arthur Prysock, gets a writing credit on this song. Lou had his own name taken off it in disgust.
Why, you ask?
Because Lou quoted a whole chunk of The Solitaire's "Later For You Baby" in this here song (the part that starts "She made me do something that I never did before..." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3Ac47sfZTg
And Hy Weiss threatened a law suit. So Lou took his own name off the song and put Hy Weiss's name on it in his place.
So the writing credit for "Foggy Notion" reads Sterling Morrison, Doug Yule, Maureen Tucker, and Hy Weiss.
That's why.! "
