"Another multi-generation WXRT-FM tape that I got in trade back in the 1980s.

Good show, from one of WXRT's Sunday night rebroadcasts.

Sometimes they edited the show down from a longer original show,

so there's a possibility that there's a longer version of this out there.

Back when we traded tapes through the mail, we would often end up with space

for a few extra songs.  Most traders would add in a few tracks to fill up the

blank space.  On this show, the trader added two outtakes of unknown date.

What with all the releases of bonus tracks over the years, these may

have been released by now.”

Being from drafter and FM this is just fantastic quality and FLAC file too!

If you’re a Richard Thompson fan you need this . . . . .

another 80s selection and simply the band is on top form

Timothy White's Rock Stars - The One and Only Steve Winwood
Show #90-47 for broadcast the week of November 19, 1990

PLAY IT LOUD

Staggeringly good quality recording

the YouTube poster Berkin Altınok says

During the Refugees era, the Masters were hanging out a lot in Nashville, they recorded this very intimate studio unplugged session for Timothy White. The legendary track sees a Piano working by Master Winwood alongside Master Capaldi's Percussion.

A great Acoustic Version...

R.I.P Valerie Carter...

draftervoi says:

Brought to you by the Collective For Live Music.

Flac files of wavs. Includes 300 dpi scans of the cue sheets and the CD discs, plus a pdf of the ad from Radio and Records (and low resolution conversion to .jpg).

I cut this into sections so that Our Beloved Audience can reassemble it anyway they like.  You want just an interview show?  Just the live tracks?  You can grab 'em and mix 'em up any ol' way ya wish.

This is sometimes listed as 1990-11-xx, indicating a recording in November. However, an earlier recording date is likely, as the show had to be mastered, pressed on CD, and shipped to radio stations (and a print ad created, proofed, and published in Radio & Records on Nov. 9, 1990). A recording date in August or September is likely.  The syndicated broadcast window was the week of November 19, 1990.

Clive Gregson and/or Christine Collister take the lead vocals on several songs.

This one has a LOT of tape hiss.

I have a ton of stuff like this, and I'm embarrassed to share it with you
because it sounds so awful.

What do YOU think?

I said:

Well I don’t want to come over like an idiot (I am but that’s enough of that) but if I said ‘What Hiss?’ As an avid RT collector I have way WAY worse than this and this set would readily become a top player for me. Thompson at his peak and the quality is perfectly acceptable for most collectors of ROIOs I reckon. In FLAC too (an aside but Paul over at the great 'Albums that Should Exist' asked his visitors for suggestions recently and along with many others I asked for more Richard Thompson and he has been posting a few from this era [80s] with Thompson at his peak of songwriting - they are barely better quality than this. Some might say not a patch on this actually.) so there!

Richard Thompson / Park West, Chicago, IL USA [FM Radio broadcast 1985] | VOODOO WAGON

Richard Thompson / Park West, Chicago, IL March 28, 1985, WXRT-FM

Now a Draftervoi Special from Voodoo Wagon and around the time I rediscovered Thompson and his solo work thanks to my old friend artist Graham Dean as I have mentioned elsewhere. So this is a tape from the draftermeister from a radio broadcast so it is well worth collecting (hissy or nay according to draftervoi) which I found eminently listenable!

Draftermeister says

13 Richard Thompson - Wall of Death
14 Richard Thompson - Living With A Skull and Crossbones
15 Bill Cochran - WXRT-FM Outro

"Another tape discovered down in Đ®åⒻṬëŕṽøï's basement.  I got this in trade, and it's several generations down the road from the master.  There's hiss, but not so much as to ruin it.
I found an entertainment listing in the Chicago Tribune that confirms the date of the show.  This was from a later rebroadcast on WXRT's Sunday Night "Unconcert."
These rebroadcasts are often edited down from a longer original radio broadcast...so there may be a longer original concert. “ draftervoi

P.S. love Christine Collister awesome voice (contralto?) I think this is the band that covered The Byrds (Gram Parson's) song Hickory Wind - the best version I ever heard on a Byrds tribute album

Draftervoi says : "This is off of a 1st generation cassette that I got in trade.
I think it's off a reel to reel recorded off the air, but I'm not 100% sure of that.
It's not sourced from the download from Guitars 101...
although to my ears, they sound about the same.
see internet archive below

If you've got that, you may not need this one.  However, to sweeten the deal
and dangle some bait in front of you, I've got newspapers!
Reviews of the show from the Berkeley Gazette and the San Francisco
Examiner, plus a print ad for the Old Waldorf!

The print ad gives me one of those "WTF" moments, as I see that Ian Dury
was the opening act for Lou Reed.  Why didn't I go to this show?"

the archive has it
