As mentioned in a recent Aquarium Drunkard Book Club, some of the most entertaining parts of Thurston Moore’s Sonic Life memoir come during his teenage years, way before Sonic Youth was even a twinkle in his eye. A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Fan? From the suburbs of Connecticut, Moore made countless trips into NYC to soak in the punk/CBGB/Max’s Kansas City worlds, catching shows by The Ramones, Suicide, the Dead Boys, Sid Vicious … and Patti Smith, of course. Thurston paints an evocative portrait of this New Year’s Eve blowout, which doubled as Patti’s raucous 30th birthday party. He was dangerously high on mescaline.

 Now this is a doozie and another in my thesis about early boots and airplay, soundboards etc, the sound quality of bootleg discs back from the day. This from 1975 her blazing onto the scene with her debut Horses album I never quite recovered from!! This is bright and 'toppy' but none the worse for that! It is highly listenable and Patti and The Patti Smith Group at its original opening storming peak!

was a Czech-born American composer, filmmaker, record producer, bass guitar player, and singer-songwriter. He worked across genres including punk, rock, jazz, soul, country and film scores. His songs have been recorded by such artists as U2, Pearl Jam, Téléphone, Patti Smith, Iggy Pop, David Bowie, Simple Minds, First Aid Kit, and John Waite, among others.

Ivan was bass player for Patti Smith Group from 1975 -1979. Some of Král's songs written during this period include "Ask the Angels", "Pissing in a River", "25th Floor", "Revenge", "Citizen Ship", "Birdland", "Ain't It Strange", "Pumping (My Heart)" and her hit "Dancing Barefoot"
