Thought For The Day : Georgia O’Keefe - on Happiness . . . . . .

Eliot Porter - Georgia O'Keeffe with bust by Mary Callery, Ghost Ranch, 1945.

“I think it's so foolish for people to want to be happy. Happy is so momentary--you're happy for an instant and then you start thinking again. Interest is the most important thing in life; happiness is temporary, but interest is continuous.”

Hi Andy. Thanks for the great blog. Georgia O'Keeffe, another Southwest Star. I drove past her house twice a week for many years as I commuted from home in Santa Fe, to my job in Regina, NM, building log cabins. The best and almost only route took me past her residence just outside of Abiquiu, either Sunday night or Monday morning and then again the opposite direction on Fridays. It was an approximately a 2 hour drive, her place was almost halfway. Also on that drive, just outside of Espanola, NM on 84, another "art treasure" was located. It's the spot where Ansel Adams shot his famous photograph "Moonrise, Hernandez, NM" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moonrise,_Hernandez,_New_Mexico
Thoughts of Georgia O'Keeffe and Ansel Adams breathing the same air & seeing the same landscapes, who could imagine? I'm so lucky. Many, many others have also been inspired by these sights throughout the years. Thanks for the fantastic reminders of my time in the Southwest, I have so many very fond memories.

Wow mumble that IS amazing! What a memoir of the two geniuses. O’Keefe one of America’s very greatest painters and Adams its peerless landscape photographer! What a place to work my friend!
I can only imagine . . . . .as Is it here in funny little suburban outcropping of a village the North side of Oxford the Southern UK university city I find myself . . . . it had I grant you its fair share of famous alumni but the scale of the work from Adams and O’Keefe just blows me away . . . . . . the only claim to fame my little village had was a Russian spy lived a spit away in a bungalow on the top road to go into town!!?!!!

Thanks as always for dropping by. You are SO welcome
