Missed a Birthday! . . . Paul Brady May 19 1947

Happy Birthday Paul Brady, born May 19, 1947.

Now in the past I have usually posted the film Paul made about the song 'Arthur McBride' and follow that with one of my all time favourite songs by him ‘Life Is What You Make It’ from the Jools Holland show where I first discovered him . . . but here are alternate version a young, YOUNG Paul back in 77 and another one from the Jools’ set Crazy Dreams - another favourite song, follow the links to the other songs . . . .

Someone else dreams will get you nowhere . . . . . one of the finest love songs ever written IMHO

“Arthur McBride” - a Universe class song. And sung by the man himself is just awesome. I love it so much. Need several handkerchiefs every time I listen to it

It is a favourite song and the early version here is wonderful. You did note way back four years ago when I posted the video of the song that you would watch the dramatisation. Did you ever catch it? I can’t ever NOT watch it! My gaelic roots are showing!! https://swappers-swappers.blogspot.com/2021/12/paul-brady-arthur-mcbride.html

So jealous Sealyman! Have the best of times up there. My son and his wonderful wife go up there regularly as her roots are there and the family have ties up that far and into the very heartland of Scotland - our own ancestors, Swapp’s to a man (and woman) come from Aberdeen as far back as I can go on my father’s side and Ireland on my Mum’s so tha explains a lot!!! Have the best time my friend

I finally found the film and quite enjoyed it but much prefer just the song. I think it carries the perpetual menace standing alone. A bit too smiley in the film
