Pop History - picture of the day P.P.Arnold

. . . .  we mods at the time adored PP Arnold ( she had appeared with The Small Faces of course; THE Mod father)

PP Arnold photographed by Gered Mankowitz in a recording studio, 1967.

“Gered, and I hit it off straight away. He was a curly-haired Jewish boy, a little overweight, confident and fun, very trendy and artistic, with a studio in Mason’s Yard in the West End. He saw how shy I was, and thanks to a genuine kindness and his expert use of light and shadow, he captured the essence of my soul at that time. I see all my fear and pain wrapped in innocence and hope every time I look at the great shots he took.”

and of course she had a hit with Cat Steven’s First Cut Is The Deepest a stone classic
