We haven’t featured much Kelly lately but they can get a tad monotonous dare I say it (predictable if you will) but this writing is so heartfelt I felt like sharing this one as she reveals so much of the personal in this song but the music can get a tad typecast but none the worse for that here
Kelly shares:
"I wrote this song in Feb of 2025 but just reworked the production a bit. This is a very personal song for me. It comes from a time in my life, long ago, when I was in a relationship that wasn’t good for me, but I was afraid to leave. Sometimes you stay in something because you’ve convinced yourself that life without that person would be worse than the life you’re living.I think one of the hardest things is recognising when something you once believed was love has become something that’s hurting you. And even when you know it, finding the courage to walk away isn’t always easy. But something interesting happened when I finally did. All those things I was afraid of never really happened. Instead, I started feeling like myself again. I realised how much of myself I had lost trying to make something work that simply wasn’t right for me.I wrote “Without You” about that realisation. It’s not really a song about anger or regret. It’s about getting to the other side of something difficult and discovering that you’re actually happier. And sometimes that’s a surprising thing to admit, even to yourself.I think the line that says it all is: “Didn’t know how much I needed to lose you after all.” Sometimes letting go of someone is how you find your way back to yourself. The visuals just really seemed to fit with this song. Again, I don’t always create visuals that are the exact story of the song. I pair them sometimes by feeling. I love the meditative feel of these scenes and the calmness in the characters. And the healing that is taking place in some scenes. Just really seemed to go together well. Hope you like it "
I do!
