Her Song

I am indebted to Le Ramasseur de Mégots for this extraordinarily lovely song from one of the most distinctive voices in British pop music, Collin Blundstone. The string arrangement is quite lovely I thought.  Blundstone’s first solo album after The Zombies broke up and after a year of reflection and his parting from partner the model and actress Caroline Munro he released this album in 1970 with this song written by previous fellow band members Rod Argent and Chris White and arranged and recorded at Abbey Road. The album ‘One Year’ also featured the hit 'Say You Don’t Mind' written by Denny Laine from The Moody Blues (you know from some little pop band called Wings?!)

so somehow I am a bit late posting this one and apologies to the boys at Voodoo Wagon and Floppy Boot Stomp you know the Son's of Nargo The Bort's Deviant Subculture (you know who you are! Well SilentWay, Brother Jobe, Brother Jeremiah - he’s a Bullfrog you know? - and a nod to draftervoi, enoch, subadoo, hinterwald,Rocket the back up squad wherever they may be!)

Now this is really worth a listen and if you didn’t get the album it is truly a surprise to hear the level of experimentation here and the band stretching, Macca pushing the envelope and trying out different things . . . .

Denny Laine (29th October, 1944 – 5th December, 2023.)

So sad to hear of the passing of Denny Laine [79] who died peacefully yesterday surrendered by his loving family. An extraordinary musical life, surrounded by chaos and including founder membership of The Moody Blues and Paul and Linda McCartney with Wings!

His widow’s announcement was truly moving and heartfelt and beautifully written. Our thoughts go out to her and his friends and family at this time

After leaving the Moody Blues in late 1966, Denny Laine recorded this single with his Electric String Band (years before ELO - fellow Brummies).  Of course Denny went on to other things, and later Colin Blunstone had a hit with this same song. [Note that Denny wrote it! Andy]
