Jefferson Starship’s flight was always turbulent. Following a disastrous visit 

to Berlin in June 1978, Grace Slick departed, and was soon followed by Marty Balin. 

A car crash that October forced drummer John Barbata to leave too, but the band 

managed to regroup and release Freedom At Point Zero in November 1979. 

Showcasing new singer Mickey Thomas and new drummer Aynsley Dunbar, 

they embarked on a promo tour, playing classics from throughout their career, 

as well as more recent material. The superb performance on this set was 

originally broadcasted live around the US on various FM radio stations, including KSAN.

"This version combines two lossy tracks (the first two songs, "Caribbean Sunset" and "Guts") with a flac file digitized from a cassette tape recorded by Hans Devente.  His copy cuts in to "Guts" about halfway through the song.  There's a version of this on Archive.org that has the first two songs but is missing the last two songs ("Fear Is A Man's Best Friend" and "I Keep A Close Watch.") 

I'm wary of combining different sources, but the sources blended together well-enough that I think this is an improvement over the two incomplete recordings.  Yes, the first two songs are from a lossy source, but they sound fine."

This purports to be a copy of a mix prepared for DCC Compact Classics by famed audio engineer Steve Hoffman. 

Discogs has another version, with the cover with being a mock DCC slip case with the black and white cover of the 

original All Things Must Pass album released in Japan in 2023.

This new Japanese bootleg version has a colour cover and is probably a copy of that bootleg. 

The printing on the CD itself looks blurry.  

The track listing on the back only lists 14 of the 18 songs, which is a sloppy error on the part of the bootleggers.

Hoffman has stated that unused mixes are destroyed, so it's anybody's guess whether this is or isn't his mix.

So... what does Our Beloved Voodoo Wagon Audience think of this mix? 

I haven't done an A/B comparison between this and the many releases of the original albums 

(I go all the way back to the 1970's vinyl....).  

Is this really different to the other mixes?  

Or did I just toss some money down the dumper?

To my ears, it sounds fine, but is it really a different mix?
