Paul Brady - For It Being a Christmas Morning | Tigh Matt Molloy |
Geantraí na Nollag 2009 | TG4
For Dave The Sealyman!
Dave dropped by to chat about the last version of this great song I posted by Paul Brady Arthur McBride on Dylan’s 80th Birthday (go seek it out) and all t’others as well [especially the filmic version with his promo vid when he first released it as a single]. and I mentioned this version which annoyed me for the reasons discussed below but I couldn't wait until next Christmas to post this version so this is here and mostly for our Dave who has always been a long standing and much appreciated supporter
Now this annoyed me . . . . . but how do you expect folks to find a particular song by an artist if you can’t even title it correctly . . .and an Irish source to boot!?
Paul Brady favourite especially at Christmas I couldn’t find this one to post on December 25th!
Why? Because it is a traditional Irish song called 'Arthur McBride' sometimes 'Arthur McBradie and the ?Sergeant' or even 'Arthur McBride and The Soldiers' . . . nowhere is it referred to as “It Being A Christmas Morning’which is a line from the first verse and that alone as far as I can tell here
Consequently I couldn’t find this wonderful version on Irish Television from channel TG4 in 2009
Nowhere on the header or titling is Arthur even mentioned! Now that is Irish!
It’s called blarney!
