The Late Great Michael Chapman! This album is magnificent and I only discovered him and it because I saw him playing "Postcards From Scarborough" on the Morecambe and Wise show one evening on BBC1
You have such a great memory Sealyman! I don’t recall how and or when I first came across the unique Michael Chapman but prolly through my brother. Being older he brought home LPs by the Shadows, The Beatles, and someone called Bob Dylan and any other guitarist was likely introduced by him. We saw several greats locally before his untimely death so many years ago now but we saw Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan (at Blackbushe) CSNY, Joni Mitchel and The Band at Wembley in 74 and through the University Guitar Society we got to see Segovia (sitting about three feet away from him) still an astonishing performance recalled Manitas de Plata, Paco Pena who both were literally astonishing! One of my proudest moments was him taking me to a local folk club (Banbury?) and him suddenly and unbeknownst to me standing up to open mike and singing and playing The Fields of Peterloo [about the Peterloo Massacre] he taught me to play guitar so you can sense a common bond but I am very undisciplined and chaotic to learn much. I miss him . . . . . .
