Canned Heat - Live Parr Meadows
Long Island USA 1979
[OUT OF PRINT]
Xray has posted this over at HQ’s Floppy Boot Stomp and doesn’t say anything so you know you can reply on me to go waffling on about any recordings . . . . . My earliest memory of the Heat was waking up to hear them about 3.00am at festival it was dark still pitch black night and they rocked me awake! That is some way to waken! Let me tell ya! and I became a fan for the next few albums and alway loved Al and The Bear not least the Harvey Mandell and Henry Vestine on lead guitars . . . . . .here the liner notes are worth a sad and melancholy read noting the demise of the stars . . . . . Al Wilson’s death always struck me the hardest and he clearly wasn’t made for this world, sleeping rough in Bob’s garden he died way to young as did they all who passed and Bobby drug use and so on are timely reminders that the drugs don’t work kids!
Their Speed Kills was always a cautionary tale I appreciated! Sad to say the loss of the central figures of the band caused the band to collapse of course
by 1979 all the members featured are now gone (21 of all participants a sad list now gone . . with the only exception being the legendary and original drummer Adolpho ‘Fito' De La Parra {check out his drumming here!]
This is very fine fine quality! Bob The Bear, Fito de la Parra - drums; Larry Taylor - bass, vocals; Mike "Hollywood Fats" Mann - lead guitar; Jay Spell - piano, vocals)
TURN IT UP and
DONT FORGET TO BOOGIE!
The last single I bought after the first three albums . . . . .
Canned Heat - Let's Work Together (Live At Montreux 1973)
Canned Heat - On the road again (Montreux 1973)
as memory serves this was what I woke up to all those years ago!
