David Bowie - Conversation Piece (2000/2021)
New/old Bowie - the Toy LP recorded in 2000 has finally been released all together instead of the dribs and drabs that came out in the past. It contains re-recordings of songs Bowie did in the 1960s. The record company wanted something like Young Americans so they refused to release it. I’m a fan of the 60s stuff, but the original version of Conversation Piece (b-side of The Prettiest Star) is not particularly memorable. However, to hear Bowie singing the lyrics that he wrote as a young man is very moving. And yes, no one remembers him.
