King Crimson "Indiscipline" Live on The Old Grey Whistle Test, BBC2, London, UK 3/15/1982

After Bobby Frippertronic’s critique of Jimi and Clapton t’other day here’s something to make your own mind up! Here he is some eight years later  . . .

King Crimson "Indiscipline"
Live on The Old Grey Whistle Test, BBC2, London, UK - TV 3/15/1982!Robert Fripp (guitar), Adrian Belew (guitar and lead vocals), Tony Levin (stick, bass guitar and backing vocals), and Bill Bruford (drums and percussion)

Fripp possibly the third best guitarist here? (Fourth best musician? - I know stinker ain’t I?)

Say What Now? . . . . .

More fascinating finds from FLOPPY BOOT STOMP / VOODOO WAGON Facebook pages . . . .

With news that a new King Crimson album is in the works, Fripp's past comments highlight the left-field ideas that make him an original

Ha ha ha ha ha love the comment about Clapton - HILARIOUS! Curiously he doesn’t claim to listen to guitarists and doesn’t care for any. Hendrix not a guitar player? Please explain!

TONY LEVIN Interview Ultimate Guitar | FLOPPY BOOT STOMP - VOODOO WAGON - FACEBOOK

Another from the Flikkenbuch pages of Voodoo Wagon > Floppy Boot Stomp

Tony Levin on what it was like auditioning for King Crimson!

King Crimson - Elephant Talk

not always my ‘cup of tea’  but Robert Fripp (who doesn’t seem to figure in this last line up - sic) is always a fascinating man . . . . . I find him enthralling but not always entirely compos mentis! He’s married to Toyah you know! Their lock down videos were HILARIOUS! His own posting on guitar playing are little short of breathtaking!

Robert (Fripp that is) is At Home :: Talking about different keys for playing Heroes!

Robert At Home 17 (take 2!)

Robert is At Home, reporting on his pitiful stature as a human being, demonstrating the production line of income-generating artworks, fine points of the acoustic guitar part to In The Court Of The Crimson King, and how not to play Heroes...

“Ooh my goodness!"

Robert On The Road (Fripp that is . . . . . )

 Robert On The Road . . . . .

A glimpse into Robert’s experience, and (some of the) hot rocking moments, on the road with Toyah and the Toyah band, through August...
Toyah & Robert’s first ever co-headline tour begins next September 28th!

shreds classical!

Now I am fascinated by Robert’s facebook diaries (?) podcasts? little videos about life and guitar playing but this includes some extraordinary shredding on his guitar live at festivals recently . . . . he’s an odd chap! I like him. His guitar playing? Not so much!

He and his darling little wifey are of course stark staring bonkers and nothing wrong with that!
I enjoy visiting with them!
Let me know what you think in the comments . . . . . . . go ooonnnn you know you want to!

Robert Fripp at Home March 2023 -

I can’t quite recall if we have mentioned Robert Fripp’s broadcasts about guitars and playing them before. He has a remarkably silly YouTube series of him with his wife Toyah singing and doing mad things but he also does a podcast, vidcast whatever they’re called about guitar playing and it is often truly fascinating!

This one is no exception . . . . . . . .

I found this one on his facebook page where he says:
Robert At Home - March 2023
"Robert considers five primary forms of practising, receives a late-arriving Valentine gift from ‘Sweetlips' Wilcox, addresses the calisthenics of two finger combinations, gets excited by a proper wind machine, files old fan letters in Mr. Johnson's trunk, puts out two Valentine cards in the attic office, and Danny of Roadrunner Records sends three Slipknot vinyl albums and one by Gojira."

He is of course as mad as a fruitcake!  Which is why we like, nay love him!

Robert Fripp : FRIPPERTRONICS 5th October 1979, on NBC's Midnight Special...

This from Robert Fripp’s Facebook page.  Now I really admire Robert Fripp and discovered him really through Brian Eno. I was aware of King Crimson but not really much of a fan apart from classic rock numbers like 21st Century Schizoid Man but really found them a tad hokey (it's a word and I know what I mean . . . . .)

but his work with Eno was much more interesting. The story of how Brian got him to play on Heroes in Berlin with David Bowie is a classic. His vids with his wife Toyah are of course hysterically funny and he is clearly besotted with the ex-punk rocker but isn’t everyone’s ahem, cup of tea but his solo videos on his work on guitar playing are exceptional and show a much more extraordinary serious side of the man! Technical as well as fascinating the man knows his instrument like few others.

So this clip is fascinating and really made me sit up and reassess what I thought I knew of the man
