Visitors will know I am inextricably modern in my art knowledge and interest and the old masters so called appealed less with certain exceptions (Leonardo, Gentileschi, Carravagio, Rembrandt, Brueghel and Bosch to name but a few) but this made me sit up and caught my eye for master of the detail Van Eyck undoubtedly was. It was only like the poster visit to Belgium and here my own visit to the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam seeing certain “Dutch” masters for real made me more aware
