Classic songs revisited | Joan Baez : DIAMONDS & RUST

Diamonds & Rust - Joan Baez (Live) 1977

Joan about Bob the Original Vagabond . . . . . . . .
Phwew! Imagine being in the world and a woman writes this about you!!

This is how to write a love song . . . . . . and I know we have had this before but it gets to me every time . . . . . .

so I will sign off with this and yes I know we’ve had it before but it stands as one of the finest love sings ever written IMHO . . . . night all!

JOAN BAEZ - 80th BIRTHDAY!

 JOAN BAEZ

80th Birthday

My favourite perhaps of all her songs though I bought her single 'There But For Fortune' (by Phil Ochs) There but for Fortune / Plaisir d'Amour 1965 as a mere schoolboy (12 - I've said I was a precocious little sod?), this beautiful song of lost love is about her love affair with Bob and hence one of her heartfelt best. . . . . . . . . it haunts me still

Happy Birthday Joanie!

JOAN BAEZ

'DIAMONDS & RUST'

I don't always care for Joan's voice with it's reedy high crystaline soprano ring and more its often overstated vibrato but check this . . . . . . . . .I bought my first Baez single when an early teenager covering the Phil Ochs song 'There But For Fortune' I am not entirely sure why now . . . . . but it stayed with me forever

Another masterpiece

oh you want another whilst in the mood

I heard . . . . . . . .

the original . . . . . .

That's it for tonight . . . . . . .
