Nice article on my fave rave of late : Nat Myers

Nat is coming over to do a mini tour Europe and stopping off in France which is about as near as we will get for now. I commented on his F/B page but he hinted we might be best advised to keep our attention on his pages and social media. . . . mysterious Mose indeed. We can but hope!

NAT MYERS gets mention in NO DEPRESSION Journal

What Music Means

When Nat Myers first got an email from Easy Eye Sound, he assumed it was a scam. But it was real, and a major step on the path to his new album, Yellow Peril. Learn more about the making of the album with the Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach and what the blues means to Myers in our interview below. Plus, check out the video of a gorgeous performance by ND Spotlight artist Rufus Wainwright of Ewan MacColl’s haunting “Alone,” from Wainwright’s new album, Folkocracy.

‘I Play It Because I Need To’: Nat Myers Gets Personal With the Blues

By Jim Shahen

Life is coming at Nat Myers fast. It was only a few years ago that the Kentuckian was recording on the cheap, busking and hustling in the gig economy to make ends meet. This week he’s releasing his debut LP for Dan Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound, Yellow Peril.

Now I LOVE this young man’s style and singin’ slinging n a-playin' geetar! So here’s his new album, head on over to Bandcamp and getcha'll sum!

“I’m always searching,” says the Korean-American blues poet Nat Myers. “Itinerancy is something that I’ve owned. I’ve done a lot of traveling, but lately it’s started to seep into my songwriting and my music. Life just feels simpler on the road. You’re just trying to get to the next place in one piece.” His debut album, Yellow Peril, is full of jumpy blues songs about hopping trains, burning up highways, running from some danger but also running toward something harder to define and even harder to catch. Full of intelligence and soul, contradiction and nuance, these songs reflect his restlessness and wanderlust in their fleet riffs, complex rhythms, and quick tempos, as he draws from a variety of stylistic strains and historical threads to weave a complex epic about life in post-pandemic America.

Myers’ story starts in Kansas, but quickly moves to West Tennessee and then Northern Kentucky. Even as a child, he was a restless spirit: “I had a rowdy little childhood. My parents signed me up against my will to play in the school band, but I hated it. I pulled a Who on my trumpet and just destroyed it.” Instead, he spent his days skateboarding and listening to pop-punk and hardcore. “My mom got me a left-handed starter guitar, just trying to keep me away from the riffraff I was hanging out with. I kept hanging out with them...  more

Since first hearing Nat sing ‘Willow Witchin’ from his album Hobo Wine and Remedy Blues which I had subsequently bought, I have been a fan of this young man and his new album is his third and likely to be an awesome addition to his oeuvre. Check the links. Buy his other works they are still amazing value and well worth it. Like listening to an 80 year old Delta Blues man in the body of a young man! Awesome stuff!
