By the way, I've already posted two Songwriters' Circle albums. They all follow the same format, in which three singer-songwriters are chosen and take turns singing songs in an acoustic format. Sometimes they join in a bit on each other's songs, sometimes not. Then, at the end, they usually sing a song together.

I have figured out all of these come from a BBC TV show called "Songwriters' Circle." But the odd thing is, this show has had two brief runs. There were a bunch of shows in 1999, including the one I'm posting here. Then there was a second bunch in 2010 and 2011. There haven't been any since. All the episodes remain unreleased as audio albums, but you can often find the videos of them on YouTube.
For this show, I found out there are two versions. One ends with "The Ship Song," and goes into a BBC DJ announcing the end of the show. Another has one more song, a cover of "I'm Waiting for the Man" by the Velvet Underground. I used the shorter version for most of this concert, since I had that in better quality. But I added in the extra song from the other version.

Grinderman 2007 + 2010 - URBANASPIRINES
After Nick Cave’s heartfelt and staggering performance of Rainy Night In Soho for Shane MacGowan’s funeral last week comes this timely look at the two Grinderman productions!
Well done Kostas (as ever) and I love the Antipodean wunderkind maestro of the darker side. Like he needed another band apart from the Bad Seeds to fully express himself! Stuck sending tapes he formed a band to revisit working upon songs with a live band and HEY PRESTO!
This will do it!
Grinderman was an Australian-American rock band that formed in London, England, in 2006.
The band included Nick Cave (vocals, guitar, organ, piano), Warren Ellis (tenor guitar, electric mandolin, violin, viola, guitar, backing vocals), Martyn P. Casey (bass, guitar, backing vocals) and Jim Sclavunos (drums, percussion, backing vocals).

It was unusual for a woman to play a bottleneck guitar and play styles of guitar that mostly men were doing… I came out of folk music and all those women were great accompanists. It’s about the song and about accompanying yourself and not about chops. It probably set me apart and helped me in a way. I don’t want to say it was a gimmick, but it was something that was unusual and made people pay attention.
Ry Cooder is still a god to me. Ry and Lowell George are the biggest influences on my playing. I love the Delta blues: Son House, Fred McDowell, Robert Johnson, Johnny Shines, John Hammond. But Ry wrote the book on making it sound like your voice, which is what I try to do. He and Stevie Ray Vaughan are the greatest guitar players I've ever heard.”

David McComb - I’ve Heard Things Turn Out This Way (1991)
Nick Cave once stated the David McComb was “head and shoulders above the rest of us” If you don’t know him, David McComb was the brilliant singer and songwriter of the Triffids who sadly passed away at age 36 in 1996. Here a wonderful solo track that has a Christmas vibe.
