On this day in Music History from the wonderful

BEHIND THE GROOVES: a music blog by Jeff Harris

Lifelong fans of The Beatles and particularly Paul and Linda and members of the Official Fan Club of Wings back in the early 70's. We adored Linda as much as we hailed Macca as the musical genius he truly is . . . . . . . I have said more on the abiding closeness of Paul to Linda's daughter Heather and what a wonderful Dad I imagine him to be so I add more pictures to support this lovely thesis (hah! sic) below these that Jeff posted

On this day in music history: March 12, 1969 - Beatle Paul McCartney marries American photographer Linda Eastman at the Marylebone Register Office in Westminster, London. The ceremony is attended by Linda’s daughter Heather (from her first marriage), Paul’s brother Michael and Beatles roadie Mal Evans who also act as the bridesmaid, best man, and witness respectfully. What was to be a quiet civil ceremony ends up being leaked to the press, and the couple are greeted by cameras and huge crowds of weeping girls when they emerge from the office. The McCartneys have three children (Mary Anna (born August 28, 1969), Stella Nina (born September 13, 1971), and James Louis (born September 12, 1977). Paul and Linda remain happily married for twenty nine years until her death from breast cancer on April 17, 1998.

Can you spot Mal and Mike McGear [McCartney] in the melee ?

TEN YEARS?! Anniversary for 'Hot Fuzz'?! Are you SURE? "Yarp . . . . . ."

Just look at that cast!!!!!

Happy 10 Year Anniversary to Hot Fuzz!
Yarp
In an occasional series pop tracks that meant a great deal to me comes this Randy Newman song from the soundtrack of Performance, I bought the album after seeing the film when it came out and it has haunted me ever since . . . .. . . .to those who don't know the soundtrack features Mick (Jagger) and Ry Cooder especially but this track is just staggering in it's cover of dark forces at play in a rock song
What IS it about? Whatever don't get on that 'Gone Dead Train' . . . . . . . .

Gone Dead Train - Randy Newman

MUSIC FOR A SUNDAY MORNIN' it's prolly not as many biscuits as these gals!

SUNDAY RUMINATION

Yesterday I had a mild aberration and bought a Saturday broadsheet newspaper (The Guardian as it goes - a newspaper I had previously bought for over 40 years but recently gave up on as it turned into the sort of endless mindless crap all the others were spouting) just to reassure myself they all were the same and preaching a right wing reactionary constant stream of drivel. This one had the wondrous Jack Monroe and her cascade of red dyed hair or perhaps it is a beacon (sic!) who had won a libel case over the truly dreadful knee jerk reactionary that passes for content creator in the Daily Fail these days in their so called 'columnist' Katie Hopkins and I wanted very much to revel in Jack's triumph over the forces of ignorance, bile and stupidity.

However I am still wrestling with the inserts and the volumes of advertising materials, the postcards,  the glossy sheets of holiday info, the truly awful middle class advertising and pointless drivel of the chattering class  . . . so much so that I am still very much resembling dear Buster here . . . . . . . . . . . .

OK well it did also have a picture of the gorgeous Gillian Anderson on it too but that is on the front of the magazine and I haven't managed to tear off the plastic wrapping to the main source of of a sliding avalanche of gloss and pap . . . . . . . think I'll go back to reading my book.
Happy Sunday!

New York 2017 [no label, 1CD]

Live at The Honda Stage, iHeartRadio Theater NY, New York, NY; March 7, 2017. Very good audio
(ripped from HD webcast).
On March 3, 2017, English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran released his third studio album, Divide.
Ed Sheeran’s third album Divide has shifted 432,000 copies in its first three days on sale in the UK. The British artist is on track to take the record for one of the best-ever opening weeks. Billboard added that the most popular format for the LP is physical, with sales for CD and vinyl at 63 per cent, while digital accounts for 31 per cent of sales and streaming making up the remainder. Sheeran told GQ he was up against Adele’s record. “She’s the only person I need to sell more records than. That’s a big fucking feat because her last album sold 20 mllion. But if I don’t set her as the benchmark then I’m selling myself short…”
