Wild Mountain Thyme - Bert Jansch

  or end with this stunner . . . . .

Wild Mountain Thyme
Bert Jansch (with Jennifer Warnes back up vocals, & Albert Lee electric guitar)

Bert Jansch does the traditional song, from his 1982 album "Heartbreak."

this amongst the best and most definitive versions IMHO
if you play one thing today! . . . .

N.B. it was this towering version of a folk classic I got from Gary Lucas’ Facebook page . . . .🙄

Cass Elliot - Disney Girls (1972) | Guess I’m Dumb

This is kinda straight forward and so like an American Songbook classic . . . . .alongside people like Harry Nilson who could really hold a tune we might sign of the day with some Mama Cass Elliott

Cass Elliot - Disney Girls (1972)

Cass Elliot’s take on the Beach Boys classic is absolutely sublime.

Well reality, is not for me

Nowadays A Woman's Gotta Hit A Man (Merseytrout Live In Liverpool 1980)

I think I got this from Gary Lucas’ actually it wasn’t it was The Captain Beefheart & The Magic Band Appreciation Society’s Facebook page and it is better than I remember . . . a favourite song and better quality than the version I thought my copy was . . . .

Going Up TheCountry live (ish!?) 1969
Beat Club

I always though Beat Club was live but the looning around from the band here trying to make Al laugh (and winning!) is such fun . . .Bob ’The Bear’ hamming it up something chronic!

Patti Smith 'Let's Twist Again' 1976

Patti Smith never recorded 'Let's Twist Again' and rarely played it live, so this is possibly the ONLY existing version! The Chubby Checker cover was filmed live in Belgium at the Cirque Royal for a TV feature on December 10 1976. The full feature with an interview and 2 more songs is here:    • Patti Smith: 3 live songs & interview, 197...   'Gloria' from the same 1976 gig is here:    • Patti Smith 'Gloria' 1976, Belgium
