Birthdays: Roger Chapman [Family] (84)

Now I may have mentioned Roger before in that again it was really my elder brother Steve who liked the Family and brought home records by them. I ‘got' it but somehow they never quit grabbed me as much as they did him! I think I brought the second album (Steve having come home with their debut) and we did play them an awful lot! Here the introduction mentions them as “heavy” never thought of them as that; more ‘art school rock’ to my eardrobes . . . .still rock on Rog!

Happy Birthday Chappo. The very first live band I ever saw were Family Jan'69 Sheffield City Hall (supporting The Nice). I was just blown away by them and especially Roger's electric, tambourine pounding performance. Straight out to buy "Family Entertainment" the next day. Lucky enough to interview him in the last days of our Fanzine '78. Such a huge moment in my "music life".
