DIRE STRAITS - So Far Away [LIVE AT WEMBLEY 1985]

I don’t know quite when I found Dire Straits went MOR but the eighties would be my shout . . .the number here is fine but hardly deep, lyrically about as banal as you get after classics like Sultans of Swing . . . hey ho!

Know what you mean Andy. After the first album - which I really liked - I then had no opinion on them. I could take them or leave them. Think Knopflers' guitar playing saved them for me. Still good to hear this, I think! DD

Wow that’s amazing Dave I always think it’s just me! The first album was SO exciting and we rushed out and played little else for the longest time ad then later. . . . . . meh! I mean Money for Nothing? WE get it! Brother’s in Arms yeah yeah but . . .the spark had gone for me . . . and I appreciate Knopfler playing with folk from Dylan to Chet Akins and Emmylou all very well and good but he was like a side man with nothing to say or add. Always astonishes me when someone’s tastes coincide! Have a great day Dude!
