After writing twenty or so songs and whittling the list down to twelve with producer Luke Potashnick, we recorded them with a host of talented musicians at Luke's studio, The Wool Hall in Beckington, during the second half of 2022. Then came overdubs, mixing, deciding what order they'd all go in, mastering and, for the vinyl version, lacquer cutting - done at half-speed by Cicely Balston at Air Studios. I met with the design team at Headjam to talk about what this album might "look" like, which led to videos, photoshoots, album art, booklets, posters, t-shirts... All of this involved many emails, zooms, phone calls and meetings with my awesome team: too many wonderful people to list here (but you know who you are - thank you). Until... eventually, the day arrived! Today Fragile as Humans is let out into the wild, where the songs start to have a life of their own and, I hope, find meaning in personal ways, irrespective of my own connection with them. I’d like to thank everyone who has been involved in the making of this album and that includes you – for buying it / streaming it / watching it / seeing it live. I can’t do this without you, so truly, thank you. Emily x |
