Speedy says:

1986: After Traffic finally disbanded in 1974, Winwood launched a solo recording career. He had some chart success with his 1980 album Arc Of The Diver, but his 1982 disc, Taking Back The Night, did not fare as well. In 1986, however, Winwood released Back In The High Life, an album’s whose title accurately foreshadowed what transpired next. The disc sold over 5 million copies, and the single, Higher Love, went to #1. Winwood won 2 Grammy’s for the album, and was truly back on top of the rock world. This concert catches him the height of his solo success, playing a set filled with Traffic classics as well as tunes from his chart-topping album, in Saratoga, on September 7, 1986, 4 decades ago today. The opening Low Spark Of High Heeled Boys into Glad is a real highlight – just listen to the audience reaction when you download and play this one!

Paul McCartney Live - The 2020s - Re-Post Folder

In our continuing series of folders containing re-posts of live shows previously shared on this blog, today, we bring you a folder of Paul McCartney shows from the 2020s.  We've posted way to much of Sir Paul at So Many Roads to bring you everything ll at once, so we split it upo ny decade.  More to come later this month!

Grab them while you can as due to space limitations this folder can't stay up forever. That said, please don't hammer the folder as that will set off alarm bells and may get it taken down by Mega. Grab a few shows each day, the come back for more the following day.

Enjoy the tunz!

PS: The re-post folders for the Neville Brothers, Marshall Crenshaw, SNL, America, and the Beach Boy are still up.  Just go here, scroll down to find the re-post folder you're looking for, and a new link will be available on that post.  And then go here to discover a host of other prior re-posts and how to find them!

Speedy says: I've seen Squeeze on 2 occasions - in August 1981 at the South Mountain "Music Festival" - in reality, the side of a hill - and in August 1985, at Pier 84 in New York.

Today's post goes back to 1991 when Squeeze released their 9th studio album, entitled Play. The liner notes to the album are, appropriately, in the form of a play that incorporates the lyrics of the songs in a script that also references the plays Our Town by Thornton Wilder and Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett.  While the album did not have much commerical success, crtical reviews were strong, with AllMusic gving the disc 4 stars, calling it "Squeeze's best post-reunion album" and naming the tracks The Truth and Walk A Straight Line as "particular highlights".  This FM broadcast captures Squueze on tour in suppprt of Play about a year after its release, in Joliet on August 9, 1992, 34 years ago today.
