JOHN CALE 1981

I'll finish the day with some more John Cale from over at the wondrous Floppy Boot Stomp (again) I love these guys there and those posting always deliver. This is a noisy audience recording in the sense that you can hear the bottles clinking and occasional voluble drunken altercations but heck it's a John CALE gig what do you expect?! It's around the time of 'Honi Soit' in 81 but also still contains many of the songs covered on the official live album 'Sabotage Live' [1979] which I love, as it has 'Mercenaries (Ready For War)' one of the most vehement anti-war pieces from John and a nightmare vision of battle/armageddon that has stayed with me ever since I first heard it. It also includes here classics from John's back catalogue songs like old favourites 'I Keep a Close Watch' and 'Guts' so is a welcome addition to any Cale fan's collection . It is FLAC format and we are asked not to share it in lossy formats so I won't . . . . . .

The notes say:
Here's another obviously very rare tape from the 81 tour (Honi Soit). Even if it is not a very long show (is it complete?) it's nice anyway. The show is listed on schmitt-hall-studios (thank you cyrus) but not with setlist, only with a copy of the show's poster (see above):
The sound is great but with some minor fluctuations to a bit duller moments now and then.

Setlist (tape length 59:57 min.):

01 Evidence
02 Dr. Mudd
03 Riverbank
04 Guts
05 Fighter Pilot
06 Dead Or Alive
07 Wilson Joliet
08 Russian Roulette
09 Honi Soit
10 Pablo Picasso
11 Mercenaries (Ready For War)
12 Leaving It Up To You
13 Close Watch
