Susan Tedeschi: “When I was little, my dad would play me Lightnin’ Hopkins and Mississippi John Hurt, a lot of that country folk-blues kinda vibe. And I liked it, but it wasn’t my main thing. But then when I graduated college, I had some friends running a blues jam and they asked me to come sing.

Belle and Sebastian’s debut album was released on 6 June 1996, with only 1,000 copies (it was re-released in 1999).
Stuart Murdoch and bassist Stuart David met in 1994 through Glasgow’s program to help unemployed musicians (funded by Stow College) and in 1996 enlisted guitarist Stevie Jackson, drummer Richard Colburn, keyboardist Chris Geddes, and cellist Isobel Campbell. All of the musicians had not played together until they entered the studio to record the album, which they did in 3 days.
Tigermilk was released to positive reviews, and the original release of 1,000 copies sold out quickly, and after the 1999 re-release it has sold more than 125,000 copies.

He was joined onstage halfway through the show by a couple of guys, Tom Petty and Mike Campbell, who stayed until the end of the concert. Tom Petty sang only on I'd Like to Love You Baby.
