JOHN MARTYN - GERMANY 1989 - Big O

More goodies from Big O (ignoring the puerile juvenile waffle, filth and disgusting racism of the comments section if you can) this from John Martyn from 1989

John Martyn - Osnabrück,Germany 1989 - Big O

John playing the London Barbican a year before he died

Martyn was a tragic figure at the end, a lifetime fighting alcoholism and drug addiction, prone as he was to music by cocaine influenced inspiration, his early promise and influence by Nick Drake (another tragic loss!) He had lost a leg and refused to seek treatment becoming a loud obnoxious bore, yet his 'highs' (sic) produced fine fine music of inspired combination of folk roots with electronic effects box and pedal compositions.

This is at the height of his fame and he left his label before recording this tour and the release of The Apprentice in 1990. John (born Iain David McGeachy in Surrey but with staunch Scottish roots he could turn his accent from broad Glaswegain to soft Home Counties dependent upon who was with) passed away from a severe respiratory illness in 2009 brought on by a lifetime of substance and alcohol abuse, a unique artist and voice, songwriter and iconoclast he will be remembered as a great innovator of electronic guitar music blended with folk roots
