THE VELVET UNDERGROUND RE-UNION EDINBURGH PLAYHOUSE 1993 - VOODOO WAGON

SWEET JANE - VU Regurgitated

 Well this IS interesting . . . . . . !

Voodoo Wagon has posted a set (or two!) of the Velvet Underground Re-Union of 1993 and someone asked the Bos to post a more high quality set if he could find one which of course he did! So it was posted in MP3 and then a FLAC version with different artwork

Originally posted January 8, 2010

The Velvet Underground REUNION - Edinburgh 1993 here . . . .

Now this is the set from Edinburgh and the re-Union only lasted a few European dates before they hits the past problems (sic) and called it a day once more
They played the following dates:

Edinburgh 1st and 2nd June 1993
Wembley London 5th & 6th June 1993
Amsterdam 8th June 1993
Rotterdam 9th June 1993
Hamburg 11th June 1993
Berlin 13th June 1993
finishing in
Paris on the 15/16/18th June

So this is the open gig of Europe and in both cases is worth checking out. There is something of a slip over the number of tracks but we forgive the Boss pretty much everything for making such stuff available so this one origannly was posted way back in 2010 and must have come from his vaults

Then he upgraded the set to a FLAC version which is better listening

and for my money this is the better of the two not least for being in FLAC format but also even if you convert it to MP3 (which I do tend to) this is the better recording

I do have the supposed set from Wembley of 93 but its cover says its Rotterdam on the 9th, either way it is the better set than either of the above but is in MP3 and anyone wishing to have either (or any?) of these leave a not in the comments with your mail drop and I will gladly send it (or them) to you. I am double checking which concert I have whether London or Holland and will update as soon as I can but either way these are all well worth it for completists and fans of the band.

The set Voodoo Wagon boasts is the MP3 version 21 tracks and the second FLAC version 20

The version I have is the full concert of 23 tracks whether Wembley or Rotterdam
It should be noted noe of these have the rehearsal tapes prior to these gigs which I thought I had separately but can't find them at the moment . . . . . .WATCH this space and meanwhile
TURN IT UP!

VU - LIVE MCMXCIII was released on Sire in October of that year

Cale expressed disappointment in the album's mix: "The trouble is that we had an opportunity here with the live album to really show what the band sounded like and it really doesn't give it to you. Some of the bootlegs that came out of the tour are almost a truer vision of what the band sounded like than the well recorded one, because the well recorded one really didn't take advantage of the ambiance of the room in the mix of the music. And that's what we were always pushing at. We wanted to fill the room up with this noise. Unfortunately it wasn't quite as present in the mix as I would have liked it to be or others would have liked it to be either.
