A few diamonds from Big O these past few days and starting with the peerless Norah Jones from earlier last month

Norah Jones - Marciac Festival France 2017

This is her and her band at the Jazz Festival in France though it is a solid piece supporting the last excellent album 'Daybreaks' which for me is her closest rock album for a while and there are pieces on it that are more like Tom Waits than Norah in content if not delivery. Check out 'Sinkin' Soon' and lyrically it is close to Tom's darker view of the world IMHO. The BigO clients continue to burgeon with their troll fest and the sophomoric winkle based pissing contest really grates by now and there are loads of folk who even commenting upon Norah Jones' output think she has done nothing since 'Come Away With Me'[sic!] one guy even describing her as a 'one hit wonder' which is a huge disservice for the 9 time Grammy winner and which you may tell I don't agree with. AT ALL! I posted some of her work with the excellent 'The Little Willies' a while back whose incarnation I adore too though might be considered more esoteric but Norah's solo output is more smooth jazz based although she has entered country influences largely from the Little Willies song playlist I guess and the work with the band she keeps close on hand is much more rock based to me and I think she can be viewed in all three incarnations as peerless experimenting successfully with all three genre. It's that haunting voice and she is simply a spectacular creative artist to these ears. This set is really worth a listen for the breadth and depth of her work from the challenging to the mellow mood stuff she is a wonderment IMHO

Excellent broadcast quality from French radio

Also recently Big O posted another fine set from one of the guys I find most interest at the moment in Rag'N'Bone Man from Hull from back in May Another FM broadcast as it is from the BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend at Burton Constable Hall. This a fine fine set from the big fellah and no mistake

Rag'N'Bone Man - Radio One's Big Weekend Hull 2017
