Artist of The Day : Leonora Carrington

She was never meant to be anyone’s muse. Leonora Carrington was born into wealth and expectation… and she burned it all down with quiet fire.
She ran from debutante balls and family duty straight into the arms of Max Ernst and the wild heart of Surrealism. She painted horses that flew, hyenas that watched, and women who became giants. She survived war, heartbreak, and a mental hospital that tried to break her spirit — and then she crossed an ocean and rebuilt her world in Mexico.
There, among the colors and the myths, she raised sons, kept cats, planted a tree, and filled canvas after canvas with alchemy, goddesses, and secret magic. She lived ninety-four fierce years creating her own universe… because the real one was never enough.
She once said she didn’t have time to be anyone’s muse — she was too busy becoming herself. If you’ve ever felt like you didn’t belong in the life they wrote for you… Leonora already painted the escape route.
Tag someone who needs this kind of courage today.
