Mo’ PENTANGLE - ‘REFLECTION’ - Live in Belgium 1972

Opening with Danny Thompson on bass ( the master )

With of course Bert Jansch, John Renbourn, Jacqui McShee, Terry Cox - five points of light as the are described here and rightly so . . . . . . one of the main reasons I left jazz proper and thought hang on a cotton picking minute! . . . . .

This Belgian TV special from 1972 captures the band in all its glory as they work their way through six songs from the albums Solomon's Seal, and Reflection.

JOHN RENBOURN’S SHIP OF FOOLS - LONDON 1988 - Big O

John Renbourn - Ship of Fools London 1988 - Big O

Nightride. BBC Studios, London, UK; July 1988. Very good BBC Radio Two FM broadcasts.

English guitarist and songwriter John Renbourn was best known for his collaboration with guitarist Bert Jansch as well as his work with the folk group Pentangle, although he maintained a solo career before, during and after that band’s existence (1967–1973). While most commonly labelled a folk musician, Renbourn’s musical tastes and interests took in early music, classical music, jazz, blues and world music. His most influential album, Sir John Alot [1968], featured his take on tunes from the medieval period.

In 1988, Renbourn briefly formed a group called Ship of Fools with Tony Roberts (flute), Maggie Boyle (lyrics, miscellaneous instruments) and Steve Tilston (guitar). They recorded one eponymous album together. After practising by mailing tapes to each other in England, they held their first concert, comprising two sold-out shows, at Harvard’s Hasty Pudding Club Theater. Regrettably, the soundboard tape was not saved due to a dispute between the concert promoter and the audio engineer. - wikipedia

N.B. anything posted over there as being from me via my sobriquet ‘swappers' is not me . . . . . . just so you know . . . .as if!?

Pentangle: The Time Has Come 1967 - 1973 (4 CD Box 2008) URBANASPIRINES

 PENTANGLE

Nice 4 disc history of the Folk Rock band par excellence featuring Danny Thompson, Bert Jansch and John Renbourn and the unique voice of Jacqui McShee (maybe not quite up there with Sandy Denny or indeed even Steeleye Span's Maddy Prior - still going incidentally but a unique voice to be sure) from Kostas over at Urbanaspirines

PENTANGLE LIVE - OSLO, NORWAY 1968 - Floppy Boot Stomp

Pentangle - LIVE in Oslo 1968 - Floppy Boot Stomp

Totally classic British Folk rock band Pentangle at their absolute peak with every member a legend now in their own right. Bert Jansch, Danny Thompson, John Renbourn and Jacqui McShee. I needed to tweak it a bit on playback for when Jacqui sings on her own ( just set to emphasise the vocals on the equaliser is all) but this is prime quality given its age
