Everlasting Arms feat. Dr. John | Playing For Change | Song Around The World

"You can lean on me brother, I can see you've carried too long..." This lyric is something we can all relate to. Sometimes life gets to be too much or too hard and we need somewhere positive to put our troubles so we can move on. Music is one of best places to put your problems and lay down your burdens, and when you hear Luke Winslow-King, Vasti Jackson, Dr. John, and Roots Gospel Voices of Mississippi sing these words, you know everything is going to be alright. “Everlasting Arms” is the second song from our Listen to the Music series — our newest body of work comprising 12 new Songs Around The World and featuring Buddy Guy, The Doobie Brothers, Warren Haynes, Dr. John, Jack Johnson, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, and many more. All music in this series was recorded live outside with a mobile studio and features over 200 musicians from 25 different countries. The album will be released on April 20th, 2018 (pre-order available now), with one new video from the series dropping every month! 100% of Playing For Change’s profits from this album will go to the Playing For Change Foundation, helping to support music education across the globe. For Robbie - May you stay FOREVER YOUNG

Mavis Staples played a gig last night and ended with a cover of 'The Weight’ she didn’t say a word . . . . .

 . . . . she didn’t need to

3 years ago . . . “The Weight,” features Ringo Starr and The Band's original member Robbie Robertson, along with musicians across 5 continents. Great songs can travel everywhere bridging what divides us and inspiring us to see how easily we all get along when the music plays. Special thanks to our partner Cambria® for helping to make this possible and to Robbie Robertson, Ringo Starr and all the musicians for joining us in celebrating 50 years of this classic song.

PLAYING FOR CHANGE

Maybe in response to a year where xenophobia and hatred of the 'dread immigrant' mixed up with ignorance as to what a refugee actually is or those seeking asylum let alone any understanding of the world that has created them, I felt the need to post some Playing For Change videos. Mostly the live recordings are shown simultaneously being played around the dust ball that is our planet and unites people of all countries and cultures joined together in music. They don't always get it right in my humble opinion but boy when they do!? They really cook, and here are some of my favourites from the last 12 months or so . . . . . .

with the master hisself, Toots Hibbert  . . . . . and TAJ MAHAL!

and perhaps my favourite above all with the wonderful Mermans Mosengo and Keb Mo (we love these guys!)

PLAYING FOR CHANGE

I don't post these often enough but here are Roberto Luti and Nico Bereciartua live in Patagonia, Argentina. PFC Says "This performance was filmed under a tree with an audience of birds and a few lucky people. Now we share it with all of you. Two soul brothers connected through music and a love for the blues. Turn it up and share it with everyone you can." So I did!

Enjoy!

AW heck! I better post this too! I love Keb Mo and here he is with his son on drums . . .(how did that happen!?) and Mermans Mosengo on vocals as well  it is naughtiest, loosest version of 'Honky Tonk Women' you have EVER heard! Fonk it!
