Wilhelm Reich and The Orgone Box

Beloved amongst others by W.S.Burroughs and like something out of Nova Express or similar, I used to be fascinated by the idea that these might work and wanted to build my own and one point. Then I sobered up . . . . . . . !

Wilhelm Reich - Orgone Akkumulator No.8

“Orgone accumulator with smaller box for spot work (missing tube to direct the orgone to the area of the body being treated). This Orgone Generator was created by Wilhelm Reich. On the bottom of the smaller box, it is marked "No. 8. Property of the Orgone Institute. [illegible] Laboratories, Inc. Orgonon, Rangeley, Maine. Made in the USA by S.A. Collins & Son, Rangeley ME.”

It was originally owned by Roy Kuhlman, purchased circa 1948, according to witness testimonies. Then it was passed down to Kuhlman’s daughter, Arden.“

“There is no intensity of love or feeling that does not involve the risk of crippling hurt. It is a duty to take this risk, to love and feel without defence or reserve.”

I have an ambivalent relationship with Bill Burroughs and whilst I have much of his written work and have read everything I can find, I am still far from certain. This statement however struck me as remarkably soft and affectionate, gentle even. I hold it's truth to be self evident
