a beauty this morning from Talking Heads from Boston '79 and about which more in a mo but first a fantastic selection of Santana performances from broadcast concerts across three CDs!
Now I may have mentioned the fluctuating fortunes of Carlos somewhere but I was shocked to find poor performance pieces around post his heyday but of late he seems to be back on full form. (bloody YouTube!) These recordings are however from the band's heyday and really worth downloading if you are a fan. I adored Santana, bought the first three albums outright and we listened to little else for a while and I was lucky enough to see them back in the day at festivals over here (Shepton Mallet 1970 anyone?) and these take me right back there. If you do one thing today listen to their near ten minute version of 'Soul Sacrifice' on disc one! You won't regret it!
Track 103. Soul Sacrifice 9:55 Berkeley Community Theater, Berkeley, CA; February 6, 1970
the other discs too are really worth checking out, a revolutionary cross over band that brought latino music to the shores of the UK and no mistake!
