Gene Clark - 7:30 Mode (1967)
Gene Clark’s first epic? After he’d released his first LP with the Gosdin Brothers, he found himself without a label. He went into the studio to record some demos to shop around. He never revisited the songs and they weren’t released till 2018.
For though his mellow chrome-wheeled carriage glides
The looking glass has shown her still another.
Fascinating item from Guess I'm Dumb . . . . . . who knew this about Gene Clark? Not me!
This song is lovely and very expressive as we all did back back them tbut that this should have stayed hidden until 2018 is crazy! Harold Eugene "Gene" Clark (November 17, 1944 – May 24, 1991) may have lasted only two years front the Byrds but his voice and ccretaivity is forever indelibly imprinted on the ear somewhat and yet the shelving of this demo album hints more at lack of self confidence than label interest surely? Heck this is the man who wrote 'Whole Lot Better' and Eight Miles High amongst others. Lovely stuff, much missed.
