Bryan Ferry - River of Salt - [These Foolish Things] | jt1674

Now why do I feel slightly (sic?) embarrassed to admit I bought this when it came out? I think I was still at College when I got this one and believe it was Ferry’s first solo and sojourn into cover songs but bearing in mind we had Brian Eno as visiting lecturer to the painting school I would imagine this was merely too early for me to latch onto to any side taking or partisan choice. . . . . I like this album no doubt about it . . . the mid to late seventies were ones of superficial not to say shallow image conscious nonsense so the Lounge Lizard lothario schtick began to pall soon enough . . . . . I have discussed this partisan attitude further back on the blog over the years and that I ended up getting all of Eno’s work and left Ferry to his ersatz fifties influenced ‘glamour’ pop left me cold soon enough
