JIMI HENDRIX - OUTAKES
Electric Lady Land revisited
Voodoo Chile
FromVoodoo Wagon
Thought I had posted all the Jimi Hendrix 'Electric Ladyland' outtakes but it seems not, can't find it here now or in the vaults tho' I know it's down there somewhere, so luckily Voodoo Wagon and Jobe revisited it the other day reminiscing about the weird world of music blogs and the sometimes eccentric posts and their responses he has experienced (get it!?) as he celebrates ten years of music blogging! It is a real treat for the archives this one and deserved of all Hendrix fans attention. I consider it his finest album and wish there had been more of this style of recording . . . . .I think in essence musically he was a studio musician trying to get the music in his head to match what he could do in the studio the first album is testament to this and as is Voodoo Chile here if only (I say only!) a record of a jam sessions (it isn't or wasn't), from Red House straight blues ("straight"? Are you sure? ED) to 'Third Stone From The Sun' you get my drift. Playing live, whilst the consummate showman, the music was nowhere near what he could hear and the frustration began to show. The studio simply could not keep up with him and the orchestrations in his head, the music of the spheres if you will, although I believe once fully rested after his disastrously tiring touring schedule put upon him by managers with a fast eye on the big bucks, he would have gone on to develop instruments like the Echoplex and the sort of equipment people like Ed Sheeran [seriously]now use (loop stations et al) can you imagine?
Anyhoo . . . . enjoy these outtakes and keep on keeping on Jobe!
