The largest manmade mound in Europe is located close to Avebury in southern England. Silbury Hill, which was constructed around 4,600 years ago, is 130 feet high and has a base area of 5 acres. It was constructed by the Bronze Age prehistoric people utilizing wicker baskets for material transportation, deer antler implements for collection, and plaster and clay that were unearthed from the surrounding lands. Its scale is comparable to several Egyptian necropolis pyramids. Though numerous hypotheses exist regarding the purpose of the pyramids, Silbury Hill continues to be distinct. What its exact purpose was is completely unknown.
