Now we like Rhiannon Giddens and since the Carolina Chocolate Drops ( a name poor ole whitey here always struggled uncomfortably with though enjoying the music - of course!) have always checked out her work but here she has written a book . . .we should go buy it. Woman is a force of nature!

"Rhiannon Giddens has joined with music writer Kristina R. Gaddy to create the songbook 'Go Back and Fetch It: Recovering Early Black Music in the Americas for Fiddle and Banjo,' due in September 2025 from University of North Carolina Press. Presenting music from 1687 through the 1850s in modern treble clef and banjo tablature, along with the stories behind each song, Gaddy and Giddens take readers on a journey from the Caribbean across the Americas."

Emily Barker and fine fine coffee . . . . . . 

The wonderful Emily Barker mentioned 'Libba' Cotton this morning on her Facebook page in relation to maybe having a daily post of things important to her and the album of Cotton gave me cause to remember the people who have covered her songs from The Grateful Dead to Bob Dylan and folk like Rhiannon Giddens. Emily also mentioned coffee and certain brands which of course we have both done on our respective facebook pages  . . . . . . . . . Cotton was a worker for the Seeger family a domestic and recalls doing the washing up and clearing dishes and also teaching Peggy and Michael some songs which she recounts on Pete Seeger's TV programme with no hint of irony or chagrin from Seeger (see below)
