EMILY BARKER

Also today Big O posted an unexpected set from Emily Barker who you will know I have purchased pretty much everything by since first hearing her on the Wallander detective thriller theme song way back now. She is great and currently touring with Marry Waterson (yes this Watersons!) but this set in from last year and a companion to the earlier set from the BBC Quay sessions from Peter Bruntnell I posted the other day . . . . . . Big O says :

EMILY BARKER
Glasgow 2018 [no label, 1CD]
BBC Radio Scotland “Quay Sessions”. Live at the Pacific Quay, Glasgow Scotland; May 31, 2018. Broadcast on May 31, 2018. Very good radio broadcast. Hosted by Roddy Hart.
Emily Barker is an Australian singer-songwriter, musician and composer. She is perhaps best known as the writer and performer of the award-winning theme to BBC crime drama Wallander starring Kenneth Branagh. With multi-instrumental trio The Red Clay Halo, she has recorded four albums. Her last solo album was Sweet Kind Of Blue, released in 2017. In March 2019, Barker and Marry Waterson released A Window To Other Ways.
The success of Sweet Kind Of Blue, with its seamless mix of soul, blues, country and folk influences, and the globe-trotting tours to support it helped land Barker the accolade of UK Artist of the Year at the 2018 UK Americana Awards held at Hackney Empire in London.
